The Front Door

Welcome! Let’s start with the front door. One tip for making your Christmas decorations stand out is to paint your door a vibrant color. It doesn’t have to be red of course, but pick a color that accentuates your house.

My long needle pine garland and wreath have been used for the last several years and they needed a little help. For the garland I added some thickness to the existing garland my weaving in another garland that I already had. This is a great way to make your outdoor Christmas decorations look more expensive and last a little longer. The white lights give it the finishing touch.

For the wreath, I added some red berries to brighten it up a bit.

These outdoor Christmas decorations are traditional and attainable on most any budget.

Add Fresh Flowers That Last All Winter

Adding a window box is another great way to up your curb appeal both during the holidays and all year long!

I wanted something that could withstand the cold and look pretty before and after Christmas. We went with red and white pansies, ornamental kale, boxwood holly, and red snapdragons.

I also have some ornamental kale in some larger pots on the sidewalk.

One the stairs leading to the front door, I have two pots of Rosemary. I love the way it smells and it will last all winter.

White Lights

I love all types of outdoor lights, but white lights to me are the most classic. Since this home is a traditional brick style, I went with classic warm white lights. Two mini evergreens flank the front door and we added lights to both of those.

The finishing touch was some white lights in the shrubs. These are the net style lights that are super easy to place and look very uniform.

Here is how the house looks at night.

We have seen some practical ways to make outdoor Christmas decorations easy. My reusing things you already have to purchasing decorative plants that will enhance your home’s curb appeal all winter, it does not have to be complicated. Leave me a comment and tell me what you think!
