Happily Ever After: The Ultimate Recap of Our Daughter’s Perfect Wedding Day

Well, it is officially “ATW” after the wedding! My husband and I have been saying for the past few months…after the wedding we are going to do this or take care of that. All of our focus since our only daughter’s engagement back in February of this year has led up to September 19th. Other than my own wedding 28 years ago, I have never planned a wedding and my mom did most of the work back then. All I had to do was make some selections and show up.

Planning our daughter Ansley’s wedding was stressful at times, but I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything. Let me take you behind the scenes and share more about this amazing day when our family grew and God was honored with His covenant of marriage.

We didn’t have a long timeline to work with, which I prefer. Seven months from engagement to ceremony for some may seem crazy, but I think it was just perfect. We didn’t have any trouble finding a beautiful venue or other major vendors. This gave us enough time to plan without a big event hanging over our head for too long.

Little River Farms

We chose Little River Farms for Ansley and Luke’s wedding. We live in Georgia and this facility is very close to our home. They offer indoor and outdoor ceremony options, and have a beautiful ballroom for the reception. The grounds are stunning, and we were so thankful for a sunny day as we had an outdoor ceremony.

It was hot!! September in Georgia is not exactly fall bliss, but it was a beautiful day and we tolerated the heat for a short time to experience the outdoor ceremony that Ansley dreamed of. After the ceremony we moved indoors for the reception.

After a dinner, we all enjoyed lots of dancing. My husband and I took ballroom dancing lessons prior to the wedding, and we performed a short dance at the reception to the same song that we danced to at our wedding. It really brought the whole thing full circle for us as parents.

My sweet dad may have had the best time of anyone! He danced circles around us all.

What We Wore

Since this is a style blog, let’s talk about what we all wore. First of all the bridal gown! We visited the first bridal shop which is Treasures Formal & Bridal in Alpharetta, Ga. Ansley tried on several dresses but ultimately picked the first gown she tried on. She was drawn to this gown immediately for its understated elegance and classic style.

Let’s take a moment and look at the dark green suit and sage green tie that my new son in law wore. I think he looked so amazing! His entire ensemble came from Men’s Warehouse. Sorry I don’t have photos of the groomsmen yet, but they looked sharp in their light tan suits.

Ansley chose a color pallet of sage green, white, and gold accents. Her bridesmaids wore a variation of the same dress in sage green. The dresses are from Birdie Grey. We all enjoyed having our hair and makeup professionally done by Brushworx. They did wonderful job getting six women ready for this big day!

For our getting ready outfits, all the bridesmaids had matching PJ’s and slippers.

The mother of the groom and myself both wore this set…it was perfect and comfortable. I will be wearing these long after the wedding!

Mother Of The Bride Dress

I knew early on that I wanted to wear a shade of dark green. After holding onto three dresses for a while, I landed on this one and I couldn’t be happier with my choice.

Ansley wanted an elegant up style and her hair was a work of art! The decorative hair pins are from Amazon.

Wedding Decor

Little River Farms is so beautiful that there was no need for excessive decor. We went with simple white flower arrangements on the tables, and the fresh floral garland from the Gazebo was repurposed for the fireplace mantle inside during the reception.

For the seating chart, we made this from a Pinterest inspiration photo. My mom did the floral decor on the top and my sweet husband placed the decal and cards. I made the cards in Canva and printed them at home.

There is more decor that I could share, but I don’t have all the photos yet. I will update the post when I get them.

Reflections and Looking Forward

I think the look on our faces says it all…it was a really beautiful day. Watching our daughter and son in law dance as Mr. and Mrs. was such a joy that I didn’t even cry. I was just too happy to have any tears.

We are so proud of this young couple and we know God has amazing plans for them. God instituted the covenant of marriage, and we stand firm along side Luke and Ansley going forward. This wedding was the cherry on top of a joyous parenting journey for my husband and I. Although we will never stop being Ansley’s parents, our role is different now. It’s been the privilege of my life to be a mom and now I look forward to watching this marriage grow into another family to love.
