Winter To Spring Outfit Styled So Many Ways!

Looking for something new and fresh to break out of your winter style rut? I have just the thing, and the best part of this outfit is that it can be worn now and into the spring season. I styled it several ways and I think it’s well worth adding to your closet for the versatility that it offers.

Cropped Corduroy Shirt & Corduroy Wide Leg Pants

This button down top and pants are from Target and they come in this color (called Cream), which is a buttery pale yellow and also a dark brown. I love yellow for spring, so this caught my eye. To be honest, I typically do not like to wear corduroy pants because they are usually thick, bulky, and uncomfortable. These are none of those things! The fabric is not too thick and it’s very soft.

Let’s Style This Outfit:

First I styled it the easiest way possible…just as it is. I tucked in the top and added a brown belt, leopard print flats, and a brown bag. I love this simple, yet chic outfit and this could be casual or in some instances could be workwear.

Let me pause and say that the lighting in these photos is not very good. I prefer to take photos in natural light, but the weather was not cooperating. My photography lighting really disappointed me, but I adjusted it the best I could.

For the best representation, refer to the Target photography that I showed above. This is more the true color of this outfit.

The top is a button down style cropped length with a boxy fit. It does run quite oversized, and I sized down to an XS and still had a roomy fit. The fun thing about styling this piece is that it can be a shirt, or layered and worn as a jacket.

Here is a side and back view. The pants are such a flattering fit, with a high waist and wide legs that really elongate the body. I went with my normal size in the pants. The length is not too long, and I am able to wear flats without the pants dragging the ground. (I’m 5’7″)

Variation #1: Add A White Tank Top & Brown Booties

The next outfit variation is simply adding a white tank and switching out the flats for brown booties. I also cuffed the sleeves of the top. I kept the same brown belt, and I really like how this look turned out. My high neck tank is also from Target. They have them every year and I get several colors.

Variation #3: Navy Satin Blouse & Capped Toe Shoes

Navy and yellow are such a great combination. This top from Banana Republic is a favorite of mine. I have it in two colors and I wear both of them often. This one is very similar and on sale!

Here I added the top and wore it open as a jacket. Perfect for the office.

Variation #4: Grey Mock Neck Layered Under Top & Fashion Sneakers

Another great color combo is yellow and grey. For this look, I switched out the satin top for a more casual mock neck and some fashion sneakers. I love the contrast of the dressier pants with the casual top and shoes.

These sneakers are so adorable! I got them from Amazon and here is the link for them.

Variation #5: Black Short Sleeve Sweater + Black Mary Jane Flats

One of my wardrobe basics is this mock neck short sleeve sweater also from Target (last year). I also have this top in multiple colors. Mary Jane Flats are still going strong for 2026, so I wanted to style them with this corduroy outfit.

I also added a black belt, and my favorite black cross body bag from Kate Spade. My initial necklace is from Amazon.

Variation #6: Add Black Hoodie & Adidas Sneakers

I wanted to take this outfit as casual and chic as possible, so to achieve that look I swapped out the sweater for a black hoodie. Hoodies can look surprisingly stylish under a blazer or as a layering piece. I used the corduroy shirt as the top layer and I like the look.

Consider an outfit like this for a chic airport or travel outfit. The layers are good for fluctuating temperatures, and the look is casual and comfortable.

I hope this gave you some inspiration on how to style something you might already have in your closet, or you could treat yourself to this cute corduroy top and pants to help you transition into spring.

I had fun styling this set, and I could have also used light blue, white, cream or pink. Pale yellow is such a pretty color, but will go with more things than you might think…so don’t be afraid of yellow.
