5 Ways To Wear A Perfect Red Dress Casual Style

Red is often thought of as a bold statement color, but don’t let that intimidate you from wearing it. I love wearing red in all sorts of outfits from athletic picks to everyday style. Today I’ll show you 5 ways to wear a red dress casual style, and it’s easier than you might think.

Before you go on, make sure you are on my email list! Don’t rely on social media to find The Scarlet Lily new blost posts…have them delivered to your in-box. I post new style twice a week.

For all today’s looks, I’m wearing the cutest knit A-line pleated dress from Amazon. It is sleeveless, but I will show you some layering options as we go along. For size reference, I’m wearing a small. As I mentioned, I love wearing red, but if you just can’t get on board with an all red outfit, then this dress also comes in several other colors. Click here to see all the options.

Take the general outfit ideas and modify them to your personal tastes and preferences! By the time you read this post, you will see how one piece can be transformed to suit you for many different occasions. Use these ideas for a capsule type approach to your wardrobe or as a way to pack efficiently for travel.

Red Dress Casual Style

Let’s start the first outfit with just the basics. Once the weather is a little warmer, a sleeveless style knit dress can be such an essential piece to have in your wardrobe. This one is very figure flattering for different body types because of the A-line shape of the skirt and the pleated detail.

My pearl detail mesh sandals are a new purchase from Target. The mesh trend will still be going strong this year for spring and summer!

Red Dress + Blazer

Dress | Kate Spade Bag

If you want to wear this dress to the office or church, all you need is a blazer and some heels. I did add some black tights but that is optional. I have not started self tanning yet, so I’m not loving my pale legs right now.

My black blazer is old, but I will link some similar looks.

Dress + Short Sleeve Pullover Sweater

Sleeveless dresses are perfect for layering. Whether you choose a blazer or sweater, there is no extra bulk in the arm area. If you have a short or long sleeve sweater that is slightly cropped, it will work in this outfit combination. The key here is making sure the length of the sweater compliments the skirt of the dress.

This short sleeve mock neck sweater from Target is one of my most worn pieces for fall/winter and I have it in several colors. This combination completely changes the look of the dress into a sweater and skirt combo. I switched out the black heels for some simple black flats.

Dress + Round Neck Cardigan + Tall Boots

Since I’m writing this in February, here is an example of how to wear this dress now. We have had some warm 70+ degree days in Georgia where I live, but you may live in a colder climate.

Again, you could substitute a long sleeve sweater in this example. My ribbed cardigan is from Aerie. It has a slightly boxy shape and is shorter in length. I’m wearing the color natural in a size small.

Dress + Casual Sneakers

Now we will take this red dress casual even more with some sneakers. I can’t tell you how much I’m enjoying these white and black sneakers from Walmart! They come in several color combinations and are under 20! I have some expensive Adidas Sambas, but I like the Walmart ones just as much.

In fact, I just ordered this pair today…so pretty!

There are just limitless occasions to wear an outfit like this. If you like to be cool, chic, and casual then try this outfit combo!

Dress + V-Neck Cardigan + Mules

The last red dress casual outfit is a longer style v-neck cardigan from Walmart with a slip on mule style shoe. This is a little more elevated than sneakers, but with a dressier shoe and bare legs. This is a perfect transition to spring combination.

Bonus Outfit:

Any outfit looks best with your dog next to you! This is Molly and she decided to join me for photos today.

By the way, I know some women just don’t enjoy wearing sleeveless tops or dresses. This black dress that I shared last week is very similar and has long sleeves. You can see it more here.
