Problem Solving Ideas For Your Home

We all have certain things that get on our nerves, but we can all agree that there are some common little nuisances that can drive us crazy! Over the years, I have discovered some products and ideas that help with these pesky situations. Today I’ll be sharing problem solving ideas for those annoying household issues.

Problem Solving For Laundry

1. Messy & Dripping Laundry Detergent

I have spent years trying to have the ultimate laundry room that is both functional, organized, and pretty. Pinterest is full of inspiration, but executing all the ideas is harder than it seems. One problem I have also had is what to do with the laundry detergent? It’s messy and not very pleasing to look at in the commercial container.

Solution: Pump dispenser bottles with labels and a tray.

I don’t like to use the pods because they don’t always dissolve correctly, and they have ruined some of my clothes. If you can make these work for you, then they are definitely the easiest to store and look cute displayed in a glass container.

I like to use liquid detergent and fabric softener, so I purchased these pretty pump dispensers from Amazon. The tray underneath catches any drips and the problem is solved!

2. Dirty Kitchen & Cleaning Towels

What do you do with the dirty kitchen towels and cleaning towels? This was a dilemma in our home for years. They needed to be separated from each other, but where can they live until they are washed?

Similar Baskets || Grey Cabinet || Basket Labels

Solution: Labeled baskets in the laundry room.

They key here are the labels...these are from Amazon and come in a pack of 20. Unless they are labeled, your dish towels will end up mixed in with your cleaning towels…yuck! Also these baskets need to be where they are easily accessible. This laundry cabinet is from Lowe’s, and it has clothes drying racks and shelves on the inside.

3. Clothes Pilling

Even high quality fabrics such as cashmere are prone to pilling. This is an aggravating problem and makes your clothes look worn out.

Solution: A fabric shaver can be your best friend and is a quick and easy way to refresh your clothing from pilling. If you are ironing, keep your fabric shaver next to you and touch up spots as needed. Your clothes will look new again.

Problem Solving For Closets

1. Messy Piles Of Folded Shorts & Skirts

My closet organization project is never complete! I’m always looking for ways to make it more organized, look neat, and most of all save space. Folding shorts and skirts always ends up in a pile that falls over into a mess, or cramming your drawer so full you can’t open it.

Solution: Metal Hanging Clips

These metal clips are technically called boot hangers, but they can be used in all sorts of ways. They come in a pack of 30 and I use them to hang my shorts and skirts. They are quite sturdy, and can also be used to hang jeans, hats, or handbags.

Problem Solving For Bathrooms

Dirty Bathroom Sink

One of the hardest areas to keep clean is the bathroom, especially the sink!

Solution: For quick cleaning, keep a refillable dishwashing sponge under the sink. I keep mine in a glass container to manage drips. Just pull it out and give your sink a quick scrub.

Dirty Shower

Keeping the shower clean is another constant struggle…and one of my personal most dreaded tasks! We have a large walk-in tile shower that is quite a job to clean.

Solutions: For daily upkeep, this after shower spray is the best I have ever used. It does not leave streaks and really gets rid of soap scum and hard water stains. For weekly cleaning, this rechargeable scrubber makes cleaning a shower or tub so much easier.

Organizing Bedding

Solution: These elastic straps are labeled for easy storage and identification of sheet sets. If you live in a household with different sized bedding, these are such an organization must-have!

Wasting Product

How many times have you been trying to struggle to get the last bit of product out of a container? Products are expensive, and it’s frustrating to know that there is still a good amount in the container and you can’t get it out.

Solution: I bet you never thought you would need this silicone spatula set, but trust me….you will love these! Whether it is skincare, hair product, makeup, or something from the kitchen these little spatulas will allow you to get out all of the product without waste.

Problem Solving: Pet Hair

If you have pets, I don’t have to explain the frustration of constantly keeping the floors clear of pet hair. Over the years, we have had several Roomba Robot vacuum cleaners and have been disappointed in them.

Solution: My husband purchased this Shark Robot, and we like it so much better than the Roomba. We have the basic model, but it does a nice job helping me keep up with the pet hair on our hardwood floors. Save yourself some money and try the Shark instead of the Roomba.
