Revolution Skin Silk Luminous Serum Foundation

I love to try new makeup, and the older I get the harder it is to find foundations that don’t emphasize my less than perfect textured skin. If you are over 50 like I am, then you have probably noticed that heavy full coverage foundations are not flattering on our skin. Instead, I’m using more tinted moisturizers and light to medium coverage formulas. Recently, I picked up the Revolution Skin Silk Luminous Serum Foundation. Here are my thoughts and what it looked like on my skin.

This is not a sponsored post. I purchased the product on my own and I am not being compensated by Makeup Revolution. I do make a small commission if you purchase with my affiliate links. There is no cost to you, so thank you if you use them!

Revolution Skin Silk Luminous Skin Foundation

So let’s get into the details of the Revolution Skin Silk Luminous Serum Foundation. It is marketed as a light to medium coverage with a radiant satin finish. Hyaluronic acid and a peptide complex are supposed to plump and hydrate the skin. Available in 20 shades including warm, cool, and neutral undertones. Shop This Foundation Here

Shades of Revolution Skin Silk Luminous Serum Foundation

The Makeup Revolution Website has the best color descriptions. I linked to Amazon because of the free shipping, but you can also find this at Target, and Ulta.

I had a hard time picking a shade just from the photos, but I ended up with shade F4C which is in the light/cool range. The packaging is nice and it comes in a frosted glass bottle with a pump dispenser.

I think the shade was actually a good match, although I will probably need a slightly darker shade in the summer months.

Revolution Skin Silk Luminous Serum Foundation Wear Test

The first day that I wore this foundation was a photo taking day for me. I took a risk by trying this foundation on a day that I would be taking blog photos for other posts! Determined to multi-task, I went ahead a used it knowing that I would be in different lighting throughout the day.

The formula was light and thin and is very similar to my beloved L’oreal True Match Nude Serum Foundation. I used my usual application technique. First, I pump the foundation onto the back of my hand and then dot it around my face. Then I blend with a damp sponge.

My biggest complexion struggle currently is disguising my pores and texture. I can usually tell within minutes if a foundation is going to work for me or against me. This one seemed to be in my favor. It didn’t make my pores and texture disappear, but it did not emphasize them which is a win in my book!

I think it looked natural, and slightly luminous without too much glow. You know how there is that fine line between a product looking glowy in a good way, and then looking too glowy and emphasizing every imperfection? Well, this formula was just right for my skin. I did powder it slightly around my nose but I don’t use a lot of powder these days.

After the end of the first day, the makeup performed very well. It did not oxidize, and it did not wear off around my nose like some lighter foundations tend to do. Also it did not settle into fine lines, which can be so frustrating and unattractive.

Overall Thoughts:

After wearing the Revolution Skin Silk foundation for several days, here are my thoughts.

If you prefer a lighter coverage foundation, but a tinted moisturizer isn’t quite enough coverage I think this would be a great product for you. The formula gives you the best of both with the luminous light effect, but does not overemphasize lines and texture.

The Revolution Skin Silk Luminous Serum Foundation wore well was still in place at the end of the day. It looked nice on camera, in outdoor natural light, as well as indoor lighting.

I would repurchase this and it will definitely be added on to my top 5 most loved drug store foundations. It’s not going to replace my favorite L’oreal True Match Tinted Serum; however, I will enjoy using it in my rotation of products.

The price point is very affordable at around $14 for 0.77 oz. Why pay $50 or more for a foundation when you can get results like this with a lower priced product? Gone are the days when drug store products are poor quality. I really can’t think of anything negative to say about this foundation.

If you have tried it, let me know your thoughts in the comment section.

Other Products Used In This Makeup Look:

In addition to the Revolution Skin Silk Luminous Serum Foundation, here are the other products that I used for this makeup look. The Blush Crush Palette from Colour Pop is a long time favorite of mine and is still available on Amazon.

The Physician’s Formula Butter Glow & Go Stick is a new favorite. It has replaced my Tarte Maneater Silk Stick Bronzer.

For a winning spring lip combo, try the Maybelline Lifter Liner in the shade Line Leader combined with the Maybelline Lifter Gloss in the shade Petal.
