1. Choose The Right Style Of Jeans

If you want to look classy in a jeans outfit, there are a few things to remember about the style of denim you choose. You will want to avoid heavily distressed jeans. Holes in the knees, or rips in the jeans will not help you achieve an elevated look. Also avoid embellishments on your jeans if you want a classy outfit. In general, a medium or dark wash denim with minimal detail is best.

Many might disagree with this one, but I do think a raw hem can look sophisticated if done correctly; however, it’s always safer to go with a clean hem. This is especially important if you are wanting to wear jeans to the office or to a more dressy occasion. The photo above is an example of a raw hem flare jeans paired with classic pieces.

As far as the cut, a straight leg jean is classic, so this will look nice with most any shoe. If you really want some drama, flare or wide leg jeans can make your legs look very long and are great paired with heels. To look classy in jeans, you want them to almost have the look of a trouser.

Loft and J.Crew Factory are my favorite places to shop for jeans. Loft especially is nice because they offer petite, regular, and tall inseams, plus a regular and curvy fit in many styles.

2. Wear Jeans With A Blazer

The easiest way to elevate your jeans outfit is to pair them with a blazer. This is where you personal style can show through. Maybe you like a plaid blazer for an ultra classic look, or you could go with a lady jacket for a proper and stylish Jackie O. inspired look.

3. Wear Jeans With An Interesting Blouse

Looking classy in a jeans outfit is all about the top you wear with your jeans. A simple white button down will always look classy, but consider a white top with some interesting detail like this wrap top from Loft. This top gives you shape by highlighting your waistline.

Bonus Tip: Jeans With A Pop Of Color Accessory

Adding a pop of color to your jeans outfit will elevate the look. Now is the perfect time to embrace a pop of red or burgundy! This pair of red Mary Jane style ballet flats has been a top seller this fall and I love wearing them.

Instantly add interest with a monochromatic look, neutral color scheme, or a classic stripe with red shoes.
