Classic Summer Style

Trends come and go, and I enjoy trying new styles but there is something about classic pieces that just make you feel polished and put together. Today I’m sharing an outfit with classic summer style! I will be mixing a high end top with a pair of budget friendly wide leg cropped jeans.

Boden

Have you heard of Boden? Until recently I was not familiar with this company, so some of you might not be aware of them either. Boden is a British clothing retailer selling primarily online. They sell baby, children, men and women’s clothing. They offer mostly casual basics and are known for bright colors and patterns. I wanted to try Boden for myself, so I ordered a basic button down shirt. Their prices are comparable to Talbots and other higher end retailers, and this shirt was perfect for my classic summer style outfit.

Modern Classic Shirt

I chose the modern classic shirt in the Tuscan Sun Daisy print. Not being familiar with their sizing, I looked at the size chart and ordered a size 10 regular. I was concerned about it being big enough across the chest area without gapping open. It did not gap, but it did feel tight through the shoulders and my arm movement felt restricted. I think for my body type, I would like to try the next size up for comparison. If you are smaller up top, I think you will have an easier time with the fit. This shirt is available in other prints and solids.

As I mentioned, Boden is on the pricey side, but if you prefer to spend a little more for a high quality classic piece this is a good option. The original price is $69.95, but it is currently on sale.

I did love the color and print of this shirt. It can be worn now with the sleeves rolled up as I have done here, and it would also be a nice fall color. The nice thing about classic style is that it can be worn multiple ways during multiple seasons.

Cropped Wide Leg Jeans

Now for the budget friendly part of this classic summer style outfit. These are the high waisted cropped wide leg jeans by Sophia Vergara from Walmart. I am in love with these jeans! They are a great alternative to shorts and are very comfortable.

I love that they can be styled classically with a tailored shirt like I have done here, or they also look cute dressed down with a tee and sandals or sneakers. Go with your normal size in this style. They have a little bit of stretch to them for comfort, yet they maintain their shape very well.

Accessories

My shoes came in a stitch fix last summer. They are the Mia Women’s Toffee Sandal in the color Yellow Nova. I found them on Amazon, and I am almost positive they are the same shoes. My favorite feature of these sandals is that they have a zipper up the back of the heel, so you don’t have to fuss with the buckle every time you wear them.

Let’s talk about these earrings. They are also from Amazon. They are lightweight rattan earrings in two different shapes and they come in a pack of four for $12.99. I think they are just so cute for summer!

My Rattan bag from Walmart is sold out, but this one from Amazon is nearly identical. These bags coordinate well with classic summer style by adding a trendy accessory. The inside of this bag is very small, so this would not be a good every day bag, but better for a night out or a vacation.

Classic summer style is an easy and chic way to add some high quality basics to your wardrobe. I would like to order some other styles from Boden to see how they fit my body type. I’m not sure this button down is the best style for me, but it is a good quality piece and I really liked the bright colors and patterns.
