When it comes to fall colors, most of us think of orange, yellow, brown, green, or rust as the traditional Autumn hues. Today I would like to show you how to wear purple for fall. Think purple mums and varying shades of purple leaves when choosing a shade of purple for this time of year.
The first example of how to wear purple for fall is this short floral dress by A New Day. This is a soft almost muted shade of purple that looks great with neutral toned shoes and accessories. This is a very full and flowy fitting dress, which is not necessarily the best style for my body type but I think it would look adorable on so many women.
I’m wearing a medium, and I would say it runs big. The nice thing about this dress is the option to tie the waist. I opted to leave it loose because there was so much extra fabric that cinching the waist looked a little off to me. This may be because it was a little too big.
This next outfit could be a casual outfit or office appropriate. This elbow length tee has been a top seller. I have featured it in a previous post in black. I liked it so much, I purchased it in this purple color and in white. It makes a great layering piece or can be worn alone.
My plaid pants were a clearance find at Old Navy a few months ago. This pair from Kohl’s are another good option that I have worn. You can see them here. I also linked another option from Target in the shopping widget.
This next outfit is a brighter and deeper shade of purple. I did not expect to like this dress by Universal Thread when I pulled it out of the box. I thought it was going to be too “Little House On the Prairie” for my taste, but when I put it on I really liked it!
I think what really saved it for me was the elasticized waist. Since the sleeves and shoulders are puffy, having a cinched in waist really made the fit more flattering. I’m wearing a medium, and I would recommend going with your normal size.
This would be a great option for fall family photos or a less formal fall wedding guest dress.
