One of the best ways to refresh your front entryway is with a new seasonal wreath. It was time for a fall front porch reset at my house, so today I’m sharing how you can customize a store bought wreath to give it a more personal touch.

I purchased this wreath from Target last year, and I used it just as it was…and it looked quite nice. This year I was tempted to buy a new wreath, but instead I decided to use some fall floral that I already had to give this one an update.
I started by just going through my fall floral and seeing what I could use to add some dimension and variation. Here is what I started with…

Don’t be afraid to repurpose clusters and cut them into individual stems. This works best for spacing and placement on a wreath. I cut these stems apart and then shortened them to fit nicely into the wreath form.

This was an improvement, but it needed more, so I kept going.

Next, I added some green stems that added different lengths and textures.

Again, I cut each stem separately for better control of the placement.

Now we are seeing a big difference and a more natural look. Let’s keep going.

Next, I started adding in the white flowers for brightness. The final touch was some deep orange ribbon.

From a store bought wreath to a custom fall wreath that is unique and inviting! This project took me less than an hour, and was so enjoyable.

I was happy with another home decor project that didn’t cost any money! If you missed my spare bedroom makeover retreat, click here. If you need some of these items, I have linked some ideas for you.
Front Porch Reset

My mums were about six weeks old and were not in their prime, so I decided to replace them with my boxwood topiary balls. Mine are Martha Stewart from Home Goods. I linked some similar ones below. They coordinate with my boxwood wreaths. I ordered some orange string lights to add a little Halloween vibe for October. They will go on the topiaries.

My wooden lantern has served me well for years, and I just love using it on the porch. My favorite outdoor faux candle is from Amazon. It has a remote control, a timer setting, and is waterproof. I added to faux magnolia leaves and some ribbon to finish the look.
Faux pumpkins are something that I have plenty of, so I made use of some of them outside this year.

I also switched out my pillow covers to these fall ones. Pillow covers are the way to go and I really try to resist buying new pillows when I’m out shopping even though they are so tempting.

Pillow covers are less expensive, and store away so easily. I know you probably have a stack of seasonal pillows somewhere, right? They are fun, but take up a lot of space. If you enjoy seasonal decor, then pillows covers are a great idea to save money and space! Here are a few fall options to browse:
As I mentioned, my lantern is old but here are a couple of similar styles.

I had fun transforming a store bought wreath into a custom fall decor piece that has my own personal touch. The wreath went from just okay to a one of a kind design and the best part was that I didn’t have to buy anything! I encourage you to use things that you already have and create home decor that is uniquely yours.
