Save Money With These Lip Balm Dupes

Are you tired of paying more and more for everyday beauty products? I love Ulta and Sephora as much as the next girl, but I don’t like the prices that come along with shopping there. One of my favorite products is the Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Balm. I have recommended it for quite a long time. Lip balms are an everyday type of product for me, so I use them up pretty fast. My favorite Tarte Lip Balm is $26, so I decided to try and find a more affordable alternative.

I ordered two different potential dupes and they are the Nature Republic Honey Melting Lip, and the Sheglam Pout Perfect Shine Lip Plumper.

Nature Republic Honey Melting Lip

The first lip balm dupe for the Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Balm is the Korean brand Nature Republic’s Honey Melting Lip. The packaging is very similar to the Tarte and it contains Manuka Honey giving the lips a dewy and glossy texture. It has a click dispenser just like the Tarte and retails for $12.90.

There are 12 shades to choose from and I purchased the shade #8 Dark Cherry

I was amazed at how similar the formula is to the Tarte Maracuja that I love so much. The application, texture and wear time were all just as good as the Tarte and I really couldn’t tell the difference. So save yourself about 50% and try the Nature Republic!

SHEGLAM Pout Perfect Shine Lip Plumper

Next, I tried an even more affordable option, the SHEGLAM Pout Perfect Shine Lip Plumper retails for $5.99. The packaging is similar, but the color options were more limited. There are only 6 shades and many of them were on the warm/orangey side. I opted for the shade Pink Flamingo which is a soft nude pink.

Upon application, I immediately noticed that the texture was not the same as the Tarte or the Nature Republic. It was more sticky and the color payout was not as good as the other two brands. Also, I do not know why it is called a plumping lip balm, because other than some hydration it did not plump by lips.

While this is not a total fail, I would not consider it a true dupe for the Tarte and I would rather pay a little more for the Nature Republic.

If you are interested in the SHEGLAM liquid blushes, I do recommend those, and you can read all about them here.

So, although I still love and recommend the Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Balm, the Nature Republic Honey Melting Lip Balm is a good less expensive alternative. Give it a try and tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
