We all want to look our best as we age, and makeup is a great way to make us feel confident and beautiful at any age. But makeup for mature skin is different from what may have worked ten or twenty years ago. To help you age gracefully, we’ll be exploring the best cream makeup for mature skin, from foundations to eyeshadows.
We’ll look at the benefits of cream makeup for mature skin, including its ability to provide hydration, coverage, and long-lasting wear. Not only that, but we’ll also discuss the best brands of cream makeup for mature skin with products that I have personally used. So if you’re new to using cream makeup, or just want to upgrade your routine to something that specifically caters to mature skin, then this is the perfect article for you.
Foundations
I’m not going to spend a whole lot of time on foundations because most women are already using a cream or liquid foundation. I do recommend staying away from powder foundations, as they tend to accentuate pores and texture on mature skin.
I have written extensively about my favorite foundations for mature skin in this post, which by the way is my most popular post to date! It has been updated recently so all the information is current.
I will mention again my all time favorite foundation is still the L’oreal True Match Nude. I prefer it over my higher end foundations and wear it most every day.
Cream Eyeshadow For Mature Skin
If you have never tried a cream eyeshadow, then you are missing out. As someone who isn’t an expert at applying eyeshadow, powder formulas sometimes frustrate me. They are time consuming to apply, and sometimes they don’t blend well on crepey eyelids which I now deal with.
Cream eyeshadow sticks are so much quicker and easier to use…plus they are more flattering on mature eyelids. You can do a one and done look with a lighter neutral shade, or do a darker crease shade. Either way, I love using these especially for easy day to day looks.
Tarte Quick Stick Waterproof Shadow & Liner
The Tart Quick Stick Waterproof Shadow & Liner is a two in one product. One end has an eyeshadow applicator and the other end has a coordinated eye liner. This one is the color Mauve Luster and the eyeliner is black.
I have tried three shades of the Quick Stick…Mauve Luster/Black, Champaign Luster/Burgundy, and Rose Luster/Warm Brown.
Tarte is running a sale on a 3-pack bundle of these for $36! Pick your favorite three shades, but don’t wait. I’m sure they will sell quickly. Click here for the link.
e.l.f. Shadow Sticks
For a more affordable option, I really enjoy the e.l.f. Shadow Sticks. They come in matte and shimmer shades. I currently have 6 shades, but I use the Rose Quartz and Magnetic Pull colors the most. These are a bargain at only $5/each!
Cream Contour Stick
I have been on the hunt for a cream contour stick in a cool toned neutral. So many contour colors are too warm/orange for my skin tone. The Tarte Maneater Silk Stick in the shade Sundown is perfection in my opinion. It glides on so smooth and blends out easily to give my cheekbones that prominence that I desire.
This same product comes in a blush, which I have not tried, but based on on contour I think it would be a good one.
Cream Blush For Mature Skin
I have been using cream blushes almost exclusively for the past couple of years. Creamy formulas seem to flatter my skin more and stay in place all day. I have a few favorites to share with you, but first an application tip for cream blush.
Application Tip: Dot the product on the back of your hand or on the tips of your middle finger. After blending it on the tips of your finger just a little bit, then dot it on your cheeks and blend. This will avoid the dreaded clown cheeks.
Milani Cheek Kiss
I’m a huge fan of the Milani Cheek Kiss cream blushes. I have three shades. Don’t let the intensity of the color intimidate you, they go on less intense than they look in the package, especially of you use the technique I mentioned.
As you can see, mine are very well used! These are the shades Merlot Moment, Blushing Berry, and Nude Kiss.
NYX Wonder Stick
My most recent purchase is the NYX Wonder Stick Cream Blush in the shades Light Peach + Baby Pink. I have been very pleased with this formula and I love that you get two shades in one stick. There are two other shades available, so check the link for details.
Juicy Pang Jelly Blusher
This is a unique product with a weird name, but don’t let that scare you off. This is a soft, bouncy textured product that gives a cream to powder finish. It’s easy to blend and satin pearls give the skin a soft glow without the need for a highlighter.
I have the shade VL01 which is a cool lavender pink. You will be amazed out how well this product performs for the affordable price. There are six shades to choose from…something for every skin tone.

In conclusion, mature skin needs special care. When it comes to makeup, finding the right cream formula is key for staying hydrated and comfortable. Cream makeup fails to live up to its promise when it’s not applied properly, so make sure you use the right brush and technique for each product. Remember, there is no one size fits all answer to finding the perfect cream makeup for mature skin – but with this advice, you’ll be one step closer to achieving your perfect look!
