August Favorites

It’s time to recap the August favorites in fashion and beauty. Some of these I have featured before and some are new purchases that I’m enjoying. Let’s recap both the top sellers and my personal favorites from August.

The Scarlet Lily August Reader Favorites

The Amazon Essentials Button Down Shirt remains a top seller in August. This is simply a great top that would be a wonderful wardrobe basic in any color!

I’m not the only one who loves the Barbie inspired lounge two piece set. This one was a recent hit as well…now if it would only cool off so I can wear mine!

The favorite beauty product in August was the L’oreal True Match Nude Tinted Serum. I can see why it is a reader favorite! It’s also my personal favorite and most used foundation.

New Things I’m Loving This Month

I just received this woven tote bag last week and I’ve had my eye on it for a while. This is a high quality bag that looks much more expensive than it really is. I ordered the cognac color which has already sold out, but this khaki is also nice for fall. It also comes in black.

This criss cross sweatshirt is the perfect layering piece for activewear. Perfect for pilates, yoga, or just wearing around the house. I’ve already enjoyed wearing this a couple of times. I originally ordered a size large, which was too big. The medium still has an oversized fit, so you might want to size down in this one.

Another good workout top from Amazon is this long sleeve open back top. I pair it with a tennis skirt, shorts, or leggings. It’s very lightweight, soft, and flattering! I picked up this dark blue, but it comes in several other colors.

My Aerie flowy shorts have been my absolute favorite and most worn shorts this summer. I have them in several colors and they are currently on sale. They have fitted shorts underneath and have been a constant in my summer wardrobe.

Another favorite from Aerie is this LumberJane top and shorts set. Many of you that are in my age group (I’m 52) might dismiss Aerie as it is for the most part for younger women. I would encourage you to give them a try if you love comfortable lounge clothes. Their sizing is generous and if you bypass the super crop tops, you can find some real gems!

Although I’ve had these for a few months now, I need to mention them again as an August favorite because I have worn them almost every day! For all the details on the Cakes, check out this post.

In short, these are nipple covers that you can wear under an unlined bra, swimsuit, sports bra, or a top with a built in bra. I hate those removable pads that come in swimwear and bras, so I toss those and use my cakes instead.

All things Barbie are having quite a moment, and regardless of your opinion about the movie (I have not seen it) Barbie does bring back happy memories for most of us. I’ve really been enjoying my Barbie pink nail polish. To see all my other Barbie inspired products click here.

It’s rare that I spend a lot for a pair of shoes, but this pair of Birkenstock Arizona Big Buckle slides are worth mentioning. I have had many Birkenstock look for less styles in the past, and they are perfectly fine but I really wanted to invest in these for early fall.

I have already worn them quite a bit, and get compliments on them often. I think it’s the stunning gold buckles that makes them special. I got my usual size 9 and since I live in Georgia, there will be plenty of time to wear them into the fall season.

The last August favorite is this pair of wide leg jeans from Kohl’s. They are the junior brand SO, but don’t let that scare you. I sized up in these, and they fit my curvy shape nicely. I’ve worn them a couple of times and even got stopped in a store by some ladies to ask me where I got them.
