Do you ever stare into your closet without a clue what to wear? It happens to all of us…even fashion bloggers! It is always smart to have something easy that you can fall back on that helps you put an outfit together quickly. Today, I’m sharing a classic outfit formula that works every time!
Button Down Shirt + Jeans
So what is this outfit formula that works every time? It’s so simple, yet so classic and dependable and the combinations are endless. A button down shirt + jeans. That’s it!
Chiffon Blouse
Let’s talk about this chiffon blouse that I found on Amazon. I just love the style of this top and the pom pom details. It is a very thin fabric, but it is not see through. I am just wearing a nude colored bra underneath. I chose this light brown color because I am already in fall mode ( I know many of you are cringing), but it comes in several other colors and different sleeve lengths.
I prefer the long sleeve version because I can roll the sleeves up now, and then also wear it with the sleeves down in the fall. This would also look great layered under a blazer or cardigan and since the fabric is so thin it will layer nicely.
Sizing for this top is as expected. I am wearing a size large, which is my normal size in button down shirts. For this look, I like a shirt that is roomy, but not too oversized because I don’t want to lose that classic more tailored style.
Wide Leg Jeans
The denim that I chose for this outfit are the High Rise Sandal Flare jeans from Loft. They are currently on sale and pretty well stocked, but I expect them to sell out soon. They run true to size and also come in a curvy fit.
I am also wearing the same jeans in these photos:
Some Other Examples
Here are some other examples of this classic outfit formula that works every time! You can wear any style denim that you like…straight leg, flares, skinnies, cropped and everything in between.

I agree, it’s an easy look to achieve, and it makes you look pulled together. Unfortunately, I carry extra weight in my stomach and have 15 COVID pounds to lose before I can think about tucking my shirts in again. Hopefully by fall, though, so I may order that shirt.

Do you hand wash yours? I notice that’s the recommendation on Amazon for this blouse.

I actually haven’t washed it yet. I will probably wash it on the delicate cycle and hang it up to air dry.
