I think we can all agree that everything costs too much…and that includes clothing! I’m always trying to find the best affordable style for you, but today I’m really saving big bucks with thrifting. I have never been a frequent thrifter, but recently I have scored big value for small prices on second hand clothing. Here are the pieces that I found and how I styled them. You can use these outfits for inspiration to create similar looks by shopping your closet, or maybe you will want to try thrifting for yourself.
Many of the items I found recently are listed in my Poshmark closet and are available right now for purchase. If you are not familiar with Poshmark it is an online marketplace for buying and selling new or secondhand fashion, accessories, home goods, and beauty items.
Second Hand Clothing: Dresses
I’m a dress girl, especially this time of year and throughout the summer. I found some amazing bargains from Athleta! Perfect for my casual wardrobe.
First is this black knit midi dress with an elastic waist from Athleta. I found this at Goodwill for under $8!

I can dress this up or down and can layer it with a sweater or blazer.

Similar black dresses from Athleta will cost you $60-$100 and up.

Another Athleta thrifting find is this grey midi dress with a built in bra. This is comfort and style packaged in one. I was thrilled to find this one.
Again, a similar style from Athleta will cost you around $70.

I love a good shirt dress, so I couldn’t pass up this red and white striped dress. It’s very simple, yet classy. I forgot to button the last few buttons, but you get the idea. This dress was also under $8.

Skirt

I always check out the skirt section at thrift stores. I love a good midi skirt, and this one really caught my eye. It’s from Chaps Ralph Lauren and has a pretty black and white pattern. I paired it with a simple black sweater from Loft Outlet.

I would wear this to church or switch out the sweater for a simple tank to wear anytime of the week. I was able to find this skirt on Poshmark that is similar. It’s not quite the bargain that I found, but still will save you lots of money.
Tops
I found two dress tops that I will enjoy wearing all summer and into the fall season. The first one is a feminine black blouse with ruffle details on the collar and sleeves. It is by Calvin Klein.

I will wear this basic with everything from jeans to skirts. It will also make a perfect layering piece.

I also picked up this black and white print blouse originally from Banana Republic. If you need workwear, thrift stores are a great place to find tops like this.
Jackets
I really hit the jackpot with the jackets that I found while thrifting. Starting with this white spring coat that I got for under $10! I wore this on Easter and it was perfect for this time of year.

Next is this linen jacket from J. Jill. Looking at their website, a linen jacket on sale will cost you between $60-$100. This jacket cost me $8.

This light blue/grey faux suede jacket was quite the find! It still has the tags on it. You can see the retail price and yet I got this also for $8.

Next is one of my all time best finds…this linen blend blazer from Ann Taylor. I’m sure this would sell for over $200 retail.

So these are just a few of the second hand things I bought on my recent thrifting trip. It was so fun looking for treasures and so satisfying to find good brands for a steal. If you liked these items, be sure to check out my Poshmark Closet where I listed several of my thrifting goodies!
I hope this inspired you to try thrifting at second hand stores, consignment boutiques or on online platforms like Poshmark. You never know what deals you might find!
