Affordable Makeup Look For Mature Skin

Attention all beauty lovers! Are you tired of spending a fortune on makeup products that promise to make you look younger, only to end up disappointed? As we age, our skin changes and requires different care, and this includes our makeup routine. Let’s look at some products to help you in creating an affordable and stunning makeup look for mature skin.

I have really noticed a change in my skin over the past year or so. I have a skincare routine for morning and evening that helps my skin look the best it can, and you can see it here. ; however the struggle never ends. I’m really discontent with the texture and fine lines around my eye area and forehead.

I’m not a fan of overusing injectables, but I do think Botox if done correctly can really help with these specific issues. I have used Botox in the past, but since it only lasts about 3 months, I have not used in in almost two years.

I’ve been trying to really take it easy with makeup and wear light and creamy formulas that compliment my 54 year old skin rather than make it look cakey and unflattering. Let’s take a look at this collection of products that I had in my makeup collection and see what truly affordable makeup can do for my skin.

Makeup For Mature Skin: The Products

Maybelline Super Stay Lumi-Matte Foundation

From the product description “Super Stay Up to 30HR Lumi Matte Foundation delivers buildable full coverage that lasts all day. Achieve a flawless base that feels like nothing on skin. Longwear Liquid Foundation Formula: Infused with amino acids to deliver a matte finish with a hint of luminosity. Our formula’s flexible film resists sweat, water & transfer for all day shine control. Stay flawless no matter what the day has in store”

I’m cringing as I share this unedited photo of my skin a few hours after application of this makeup. I look much older than I am, and this formula has settled into every fine line on my face. It also emphasizes the texture and dryness that I’m currently battling.

I’m in shade 129 neutral cool. I think this formula is too matte for my skin, but if you struggle with shine or oily breakthrough you might enjoy this foundation.

As for the 30 hour wear time, after about 5 hours you can see that it has worn off my nose and chin especially bad. Okay, this is clearly a fail for my mature dry skin so we will just move on. It’s easy to get discouraged when you try something that does not work for you, but try not to be too hard on yourself. We all have flaws, and we just have to find the right products that work for us.

I stand by my L’oreal True Match Nude as the best foundation that I know of for mature skin. I have been using it for years and have yet to find a high end or drug store foundation that can beat it. For other foundations for mature skin, you will want to read this post.

DRMTLGY Luminous Eye Corrector

This product never fails me, and I love it so much that I have it on auto ship. This is the DRMTLGY Luminous Eye Corrector with SPF 41. It is a color corrector and sunscreen in one. It does wonders for the dark hollow places under the eye area. I also like to put just a drop on each eyelid to even out any discoloration.

Physician’s Formula Butter Glow & Go

I’ve been using this Physician’s Formula Butter Glow & Go for my bronzer and blush for the past couple of months. Mature skin looks best with cream formulas and this product is two in one for around $15. I’m in the shade Beachy Pink

Eyeshadow Sticks

I’m wearing two shades of eyeshadow sticks. If you have crepy eyelids or don’t like to apply eyeshadow, cream products are so much easier to deal with and more flattering for mature skin. For the lid I used e.l.f. No Budge Shadow Stick in Rose Quartz. Just above the crease and in the outer corner I used Covergirl Clean Eye Color in Raspberry Bloom.

Essence Crazy Volume Waterproof Mascara

For a very affordable mascara, Essence has several formulas that seem all about the same to me. They are under $5 and I like the results I get with all of them. Recently I picked up this one to try and it did give me nice thick looking lashes. With heat and humidity around the corner, I like to have a waterproof formula on hand.

Maybelline Lifter Glaze Oil Balm

This is the newest product that I’m excited about – the Maybelline Lifter Glaze Oil Balm. I am a dedicated fan to the Maybelline Lifter Glosses, and so when I saw these I had to try it. The oil balm is not as glossy, yet gives you a nice combination of a balm and and lipstick.

I’m wearing the shade 005 Peach Quench. I thought it wore well, but will need to be reapplied every few hours. Not quite as hydrating as the lifter glosses, yet I like the finish for mature skin. Also, the colors look more intense than they actually are so don’t be afraid of the color.

Makeup Look For mature skin

Affordable makeup for mature skin is out there and you will experience fails from time to time. Keep in mind there are also some amazing products that are also affordable and flattering for the concerns of midlife women. The only real fail for me was the Maybelline foundation. I hope this has given you some inspiration and some products to try for yourself.
