Late July always leaves me a bit conflicted. Living in Georgia, I have learned to expect extreme hot and long summers, yet I still yearn for Autumn. Now is a good time to refresh your summer home decor with some simple updates.
I chose the name of my website, The Scarlet Lily, for a reason. To learn more about that click here. I do love the deep pop of red; however, my favorite flower is actually the hydrangea. Blue hydrangeas! I have tried to grow them and so far I’ve been unsuccessful so I resort to high quality faux hydrangeas. Maybe some day I will grow some beauties. For now hear is how I used hydrangeas to give my home some new decor.

When my entry table looks nice, it makes me feel happy to enter my home. If you ever feel overwhelmed with decorating and don’t know where to start, I recommend the foyer. It’s a small space, but everyone sees it and it sets the tone for your home.
As I said, I can’t seem to grow hydrangeas but my husband gifted me these fresh ones a few days ago. All it took was a simple vase, a pretty tray, and a yummy vanilla candle and the space instantly felt welcoming. It took minutes to put together, but the simplicity of it makes it so pleasant to look at. No clutter to make you feel tense.

No matter what time of year, I prefer the warm and calming scent of vanilla. This Vanilla Brulee by DW home is so luxurious!

The scalloped edge tray is one that I’ve had for a couple of years now. I will link some similar styles.

Next, let’s go to the front porch and refresh the decor out there. I love my boxwood wreaths. They are so easy to hang on command hooks and I can change the sashes with the seasons.
These blue and white checked sashes caught my eye immediately since blue is my favorite color. The white scalloped edge sash was the perfect addition.
I simply looped them around the wreath and secured with a clear plastic hair band. So easy, yet makes such a statement!

Lastly, the front door basket if full of blue hydrangea stems as well as the box next the the door. These are faux stems and are from Amazon. You can shop them here.

They come in a set of 2-5 and the price varies depending on how many you purchase. They are a little pricey, but to get real looking ones I don’t mind spending extra. These can be used over and over again, and don’t need to be watered!

As I was taking this photo of myself, this girl was just watching me from my yard. It doesn’t get any better than this!
