Tuesday Trends: Cozy & Cute Winter Outfits

One of the most cozy cute winter outfits is the sweater dress. The 2024/2025 sweater dresses are less oversized and more tailored than the previous years, and today I have two outfits to share with you. Both of these outfits fit my criteria for being elegant and affordable, so read on for all the details.

Ribbed Mini Sweater Dress

Cute winter outfits need to be warm and comfortable. This first sweater dress is this festive dark green dress from J. Crew Factory. It is a ribbed knit fabric that is very thick and drapes nicely on the body. The A-line shape is flattering and the mock neck is not too bulky.

This is such a great quality dress and it also comes in black, so if you don’t have a basic sweater dress in your winter wardrobe this would be a great addition. It runs true to size, and I’m wearing a small.

You might prefer wearing tights for the colder months, but if you live in a warmer climate you could skip them. This is considered a mini dress, and hit me just below mid-thigh. I really like the look of tall boots with sweater dresses, but you can wear any type of shoe that you like which really is a perk with a style like this one.

Neutral Sweater Dress w/ Cable Knit Sleeves

The second cute winter outfit is a neutral with a pop of color. I love this sweater dress so much that I purchased it in two colors. I have shown the deep burgundy red in a previous post, but I really love this neutral beige.

To be honest, I really wanted this dress to wear with my favorite burgundy ankle boots that I have raved about here so many times. I just had to order them and they are stunning!

The is a very soft knit and the sleeves really stand out with the cable knit detail. This color is called apricot, but it is more of a warm beige and I’m wearing a size small.

Sweater dresses are the best of comfort and style! You can wear them so many ways, and the easiest way to change up the look is to change out the shoes. Sneakers with a sweater dress look effortlessly chic and then you can go up from there to create more formal looks. Flats, heels, tall boots, or ankle boots…anything goes with a sweater dress and I’m here for it.

What’s Out Of Style With A Sweater Dress?

As I mentioned, the trend has moved closer to a more tailored look in sweater dresses. The big baggy style with over the knee boots that I love is really not in style right now. I used to wear them, but honestly I think the current less oversized trend is more flattering.

So for a cute winter outfit, choose a dress with a slightly more fitted silhouette.

Burgundy Red Sweater Dress

That doesn’t mean you have to be self conscious about wearing a dress that is too form fitting. I think the A-line styles are the most forgiving and slimming. Also remember that shapewear is your friend and can smooth out any problem areas.
