Spring Basics To Enhance Your Wardrobe

In the fashion world, there are two major seasonal shifts…spring and fall. The transition to summer and winter are more subtle but I always enjoy prepping my closet for the next season. Spring is so refreshing, and today I want to show you some spring basics to enhance your wardrobe this year.

The Spring Basic Pieces

Straight Leg Jeans + Red Sweater

If you don’t have a pair of straight leg jeans for spring, then I would recommend trying a pair. I ordered the Ab Solution Straight Leg Jeans by Democracy in a dark wash. I have worn this brand before, and these did not disappoint. They have more of a midrise fit, so if you are not a fan of the ultra high rise then you will really like these.

These are a darker wash with no distressing. The darker color denim can be dressed up or down and is figure flattering. I’m wearing a size 10, which fit me nicely, and I think this would be a very versatile piece to have in your wardrobe.

I paired the jeans in the first outfit with this vibrant red v-neck sweater from The Drop collection on Amazon. It has a puff sleeve detail, but it does not puff right at the shoulder which I prefer since I have wide shoulders. I’m wearing my usual size large.

Here is how it looks tucked into the jeans.

This ruched bag is so cute! It’s also from Amazon and is a perfect neutral bag for when you don’t need to carry a large purse.

Straight Leg Jeans + Blazer

A neutral colored blazer is another spring basic to consider. I chose this black blazer also from The Drop collection. This is an oversized style, and I really should have ordered the medium instead of the large.

First, I layered the blazer over the red sweater and this just looked okay to me.

Then I tried the blazer with just a simple black tank underneath and I much prefer this look.

For this outfit, I switched out my necklace for my gold initial necklace and my favorite cap toed shoes. My shoes are a couple of years old, but this pair is very similar.

These red flower drop earrings are also from Amazon.

Pointelle Cardigan

This full sleeve pointelle cardigan is a nice piece to transition from cooler weather to warmer weather. The sleeve detail on this sweater is so pretty. I’m wearing a large and I’m getting the oversized fit that I wanted.

The knit is thick enough that I did not need to wear a cami underneath…just a neutral colored bra.

Ruffle Collar Henley Tee

I love a tee that just has a little something special, and this ruffle collar henley from J.Crew has it! The green has unfortunately sold out, but this nearly identical style its is available in black, rust, ivory, and pink.

I could see pairing this top with shorts in the summer, but I love it with jeans for now.

New Balance Sneakers

New Balance sneakers are trending for spring. This is the 574 Core Sneaker and I really like these for a neutral look. Last summer I featured these yoga pants from Amazon, and they have been a top seller! To see them styled muItiple ways, check out this post.

I decided to style them again here with the New Balance sneakers.

My top is from Kohl’s (last year). It is a cropped style top which I generally stay away from, but I like to wear this top with high waisted pants. This way I get the look of a tucked in shirt without the fuss. I size up two sizes to make sure no skin is showing. This version is similar.

This is the perfect comfy outfit to wear for travel, working at home, or just running errands!

These spring basics will help you build a spring wardrobe that is functional and versatile. Which pieces are your favorite?
